Stop Bleeding Our Local Schools

Screenshot of a tweet from Abby Norman @abbynormansays: I quit my teaching job and now make more bartending for 15 less hours week. Also I get blamed for way less and get told thank you way way more. No lesson plans or grading papers. Remember this when people ask about the teacher shortage.

It has been reported recently that 40% of new teachers leave their jobs within the first six years of employment. For twenty-eight of the last thirty years the WI State Assembly has been controlled by one party. The republican party has tied the hands of our local schools long enough.

Joe Plouff believes it is time our public institutions and in particular our local schools regain the status they deserve. Our teachers have earned our respect. Let our teachers, administrators and school boards do their job. And they must have a legislature that wants a quality public school system.

The fact is: Kitty litter boxes have not replaced boys and girls washrooms in our schools. Our school libraries are not filled with books about sex. There are not kids wanting to change their sex so they can compete in athletics. Our schools curriculum reflects the values of our local communities. The school boards in Chippewa Falls, Elk Mound and Menomonie are doing what they are supposed to do. And well. We need to stop believing what out of state billionaires want us to believe. Let’s have faith in the local people we know, and we will restore public education to its rightful place.
