Make Wisconsin work for the people
We can count on Joe to be a strong advocate for prioritizing public service and infrastructure, and firmly oppose the trend of wealth transfer to the upper class. Joe will stand up for renewed engagement and investment in public resources and democracy.
Fix The Rig!
As your candidate, we need an economy that isn’t rigged against everyday workers. The current system has favored the wealthy, and trickle-down economics has repeatedly proven that it doesn’t work for our communities. It’s time to take a pro-worker stance and ensure that unions have a seat at the table, advocating for fair wages and rights. I will fight to repeal Act 10 and eliminate Right to Work legislation, empowering our workers to build a more robust, more equitable economy for all. Together, united, we can create a system that genuinely supports everyone.
Gun Reform
We urgently need comprehensive gun reform legislation that kicks off with meaningful conversations about our relationship with firearms. In our region, we deeply value our hunting culture and sporting heritage. We can and must prioritize gun safety while also safeguarding our communities. We can secure the future of our state while upholding our rights as Americans. By investing in well-funded community resources, we can cultivate a safer environment for all. Let’s join forces to ensure that responsible gun ownership goes hand in hand with protecting our communities.
Affordable Healthcare
I have seen firsthand how outrageous healthcare costs have impacted everyone here in Wisconsin. With several local hospitals closing their doors in western Wisconsin, we face a troubling reality of expensive and limited access to care. This is not just a local issue; it’s a national crisis that demands our immediate attention. Every Wisconsinite deserves guaranteed access to quality and affordable healthcare, regardless of where they live. If I am elected, I will passionately advocate for putting healthcare back in the hands of the people by enhancing options like BadgerCare, fully supporting the BadgerCare public option, and accepting the long awaited Medicaid expansion! No one should have to go without healthcare, and no family should ever face bankruptcy over life-saving services. I will also fiercely push for Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act and advocate for better payment and transparency rules for our rural hospitals, ensuring they can thrive while serving our communities.
Reproductive Rights
I can’t envision a world where individuals lack control over their bodies. Everyone deserves the freedom to make choices that are right for them, including the right for women to choose an abortion. This decision is never simple; it requires deep personal reflection about one’s life circumstances, and the last thing anyone needs is a politician stepping in to make that choice for them. My opponent opposes reproductive freedom at a time when the majority of Americans oppose banning abortions, especially after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. We risk entering a dangerous era where even contraception could be criminalized, affecting millions. Women’s healthcare is under attack, which is why I support Wisconsin women having the freedom to make choices about their own bodies. Reproductive health goes beyond just access to abortion; it’s about helping families, safeguarding the health of potential parents, and providing essential services for countless Americans.
Public Schools
As a former teacher who has witnessed the struggles of public schools over the years, I can tell you that our education system has been neglected for far too long, especially by the Republican-controlled legislature. Since the days of the Walker administration and the passage of Act 10, we’ve seen detrimental measures like No Child Left Behind harm our public school teachers and funding. Because of this legislative oversight, many school districts have been forced to rely on referendums to secure necessary financing, often resulting in higher property taxes for already burdened communities. It doesn’t have to be this way.
If I’m elected, I will work to ensure that school districts receive funding that keeps pace with inflation—something that has been overlooked for the past 13 years. I will also work to repeal Act 10, giving our teachers a stronger voice and restoring adequate pay. We can achieve this by using our tax surplus wisely, reducing taxpayer dollars that currently fund private voucher schools, and implementing fair taxation methods that don’t take from the paychecks of hardworking Wisconsinites.
Legalize Cannabis
As someone who has seen how policies can change, I believe it’s time for Wisconsin to legalize marijuana. This move isn’t just about personal freedom; it’s a smart way to use taxpayer dollars. Legalizing marijuana would create a new source of revenue for our state, allowing us to invest in important public services like education, healthcare, and infrastructure. By regulating and taxing marijuana, we can redirect funds from the underground market into our communities, improving safety and creating jobs. Additionally, it will reduce the burden on our criminal justice system, freeing up law enforcement to focus on more urgent issues. Let’s take this important step together, using the benefits of legalization to strengthen Wisconsin for all its residents.
