For elected officials to remain a part of the “Grassroots” movement of politics two things must occur. The first is that the candidate must show organizing skills indicating they are leading a viable campaign. Secondly, the candidate must show they have financial support from grassroot individuals. These are typically people who have a relationship or previous contact with a candidate— through employment, local community social events, political groups, and family & friends.

Donations are necessary to fund websites, flyers, yard signs, office supplies etc. It also provides Joe with confidence he has the support of his people.
